I am here, in this moment, and this moment is enough to begin from.
Practices for coming home to the body and the present moment: standing still, feeling the ground, breathing without agenda. Grounding is not withdrawal from life but a way of meeting it from a steadier place. These prayers and practices suit the start of a day, the end of a day, or any moment when the mind has run ahead of the body.

EDITOriginal compositionMODModern interpretationGround of being, in whom nothing is rushed and nothing is late,
I have been living five minutes ahead of myself all day. Call me back. Teach me the dignity of doing one thing with my whole attention — this breath, this step, this person in front of me. The world asks me to fracture; you invite me to gather. In the ordering of the aeons there is no panic, only unfolding. Let a little of that patience enter my small hour, until I am doing what I am doing while I am doing it.
Let this next hour be whole. Let me be whole within it. Amen.
I am here, in this moment, and this moment is enough to begin from.
The ground beneath me is allowed to hold some of what I carry.
I can be still without being stuck, and quiet without being empty.
Where in your body do you feel most present right now, and where do you feel absent?
What would it be like to do nothing at all for the next three minutes?
Name five things you can sense from where you are. Which one had you not noticed?
Two great modes of the inner life — speaking to the Divine, and resting beyond words.
