Courage and Resilience

Courage is rarely loud. These prayers ask for the strength to face what must be faced, to act despite fear, and to endure what cannot be quickly changed — without pretending the fear away and without promising outcomes that are not ours to promise.

Courage and Resilience

Unbroken Is Not the Goal

Mender of what life has cracked,

I release the demand to come through this unmarked. The world breaks everyone, the old writer said, and many are strong at the broken places — but even if I am only tender there, tenderness is not failure. Give me resilience that looks like returning: to hope, to people, to the work, after being knocked down the honest number of times. Let my scars become places of sympathy rather than shame, evidence that I was injured and healed, not that I was weak and hid it.

Make me strong where I am mended, and gentle where I am not yet. Amen.

For reflection — no answer needed

To sit with — nothing to write down
What are you afraid of — and what is on the other side of that fear?
To sit with — nothing to write down
Recall a time you did the hard thing anyway. What carried you through?
To sit with — nothing to write down
Where in your life is quiet endurance already at work, unacknowledged?
