Deep Restoration

Slow repair begins at the roots: sleep, food, shelter, honest memory and the people who steady us. These prayers honour the unglamorous work of restoration — returning to basics without shame, and letting strength grow back at its own pace rather than on demand.

Deep Restoration

Back to the Roots

Patient Creator, who grows oaks at the speed of oaks,

I have been demanding flowers from a season meant for roots. Forgive my impatience with the underground work: the sleeping, the eating, the slow mending no one applauds. Teach me that restoration is not regression. The tree does not apologise for winter. Give me the humility to do small sustaining things without despising them — drink the water, take the walk, keep the appointment, answer the friend. Let my strength return at its own honest pace, rooted deeper than before.

Grow me slowly and well. I will not rush the roots. Amen.

For reflection — no answer needed

To sit with — nothing to write down
Which basic need — sleep, food, movement, company — have you been treating as optional?
To sit with — nothing to write down
What does 'enough' look like in this season of your life?
To sit with — nothing to write down
What small, unglamorous habit has quietly kept you standing?
