I confess I have been demanding the map before I will move. Today I ask for something smaller and more honest: light for the next step only. If the step is wrong, give me the humility to notice quickly and the grace to correct without self-punishment. If it is right, give me the steadiness to take the one after it. Keep me from both paralysis and presumption — from doing nothing out of fear, and from doing everything out of pride.
One step, taken honestly, is enough to offer you today. Amen.
