Setting Down the Ledger
Before you begin
Bring to mind one resentment you are tired of carrying. This practice does not excuse it; it puts it down.
The practice, step by step — read it all first if you like
Name the debt
State plainly what was done and what it cost you. Accuracy first.
Weigh the carrying
Ask honestly: what is carrying this debt collecting from ME each day?
Set it down
With a long out-breath, imagine placing the ledger on the ground. You may pick it up again; for now, rest.
Notice the difference
Feel the difference between 'it was acceptable' — which you have not said — and 'I am setting it down'.
Accessibility
Fully internal; no contact with any person is required or implied.
How long do you have?
Or read through it quietly above, at your own pace.
